My brother-in-law Colm has these Triffids taking over his back garden.
They make my one look pretty tame.

Your brother-in-laws plants are called echiums(sp!)., they grow from seed for one year, flower for one year and then keel over and die, but dont worry they leave behind lots of seeds to begin the process all over again…and again…,
p.s. we also have a house in the Languedoc near Narbonne, good luck with your project
