Fionn.jpg

Acquired this interesting abstract a couple of weeks ago.
Tentatively called Snakes I somehow see it as a study in blue and yellow.
The artist ?

Two year old Fionn Butler, the grandson.

Wow! That’s stunning! There’s definitely one to watch…

…he has acquired by osmosis over his two years of dedicated portraiture, his mother’s carefully selected sense of colour….nature or nurture? Congratulations!

I think it is even more direct than that.
Conscious of the mess factor of freestyle art his mother restricts his choice of colours- and decides when it is finished !

yes, i confess, he only gets a limited selection of colours (that he choses) but he usually decides when it’s finished – he has a very short attention span for painting and is often finished and wanting to get out of the highchair (aka. painting restriction chair) very shortly after he has begun.

Well, I think it’s an excellent idea to restrict the selection of colours. I remember how lost I often felt in front of all those colours – and thought I HAD to use them all (still have the same approach to spices, sometimes, but am working on that one;-)

Hi Martin, at first glance – I instantly thought of an iris – what a clever boy!!
