In Ireland we call them “Speed Bumps”, the English, anarchically I always thought, call them “Sleeping Policemen”.

As we drove through a village near us last week I noticed a sign for “dos d’âne” by the road. “The Back of an Ass” I mused, “now what could that be” , and then my tyres hit the bump.
