As we near November and I strengthen my will to abstain from drink for the month (as I have for the last 4 years) I thought myself in need of some help from the French Government.
This was a poster produced at the begining of the twentieth century for people like me.
Unfortunately, if you read it closely, their thoughts on the matter were that wine, beer and cider and even perry were harmless and I would only start to resemble the uncouth fellow on the right, or the dead guinea pig, if I drank spirits.
(Mind you I am not completely sure I want to look like the fellow, or the pig, on the left either.)
I also remember another poster from the same crowd at the same time trying to persuade the man on the street to keep their wine consumption under one litre a day as this was reckoned healthy.
If only this were true November would be a much less cruel month for me.
(By the way I think I got the copy of the poster as a present from someone but can’t remember whom.
Credit can still be given if claimed)

on October 26, 2009I’m not too sure, but I would rather spend some time with the guy on the right, seems much more pleasant.
I have something to contribute in the topic:

on October 26, 2009Thanks for the link Jedrzej.
Now I’m not so sure about November any more, maybe I should keep drinking to protect myself from those horrors.
