I think it is even more direct than that.
Conscious of the mess factor of freestyle art his mother restricts his choice of colours- and decides when it is finished !
yes, i confess, he only gets a limited selection of colours (that he choses) but he usually decides when it’s finished – he has a very short attention span for painting and is often finished and wanting to get out of the highchair (aka. painting restriction chair) very shortly after he has begun.

Well, I think it’s an excellent idea to restrict the selection of colours. I remember how lost I often felt in front of all those colours – and thought I HAD to use them all (still have the same approach to spices, sometimes, but am working on that one;-)
