I thought I saw an eagle
Though it might have been a vulture
I never could decide

We were in much the same prediciment in the Haut Languedoc on Monday when a pair of magnificent birds swooped about over our heads as we picniced.
One of them had a distinct tab on one of his wings.

Who cares, really? Anything that soares like these creatures is deserving of awe and admiration; and anyone lucky enough to observe them with their own eyes has witnessed something amazing! Can we pleas go back there when we’re over next month? Can we?

Well Owen , crows this size are even scarier than eagles.

Looks very much like a golden eagle to me! Check out this photo: http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Datei:Aquila_chrysaetos_USFWS.jpg&filetimestamp=20070826133126
It could also be the endangered lammergeier aka bearded vulture – Europe’s largest bird of prey and one of the largest flying birds in the world!
