I thought I saw an eagle
Though it might have been a vulture
I never could decide
Leonard Cohen
We were in much the same prediciment in the Haut Languedoc on Monday when a pair of magnificent birds swooped about over our heads as we picniced.
One of them had a distinct tab on one of his wings.
Eagles or Vultures ?
You decide.

on February 11, 2011Who cares, really? Anything that soares like these creatures is deserving of awe and admiration; and anyone lucky enough to observe them with their own eyes has witnessed something amazing! Can we pleas go back there when we’re over next month? Can we?

on February 14, 2011Looks very much like a golden eagle to me! Check out this photo: http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Datei:Aquila_chrysaetos_USFWS.jpg&filetimestamp=20070826133126
It could also be the endangered lammergeier aka bearded vulture – Europe’s largest bird of prey and one of the largest flying birds in the world!
